Our Story

ALWAYS STAY CURIOUS

We design and handcraft miniature wooden models and kits that celebrate the charm of everyday British life.

From our workshop in Wales, we transform familiar sights into thoughtful gifts, practical models and keepsakes designed to be enjoyed for years to come.

1. HOW IT STARTED

From a kitchen table to a Welsh workshop

Curious Rabbit® began in 2019 at a kitchen table in the market town of Abergavenny, founded by father and son, Richard and Thomas.

What started as a handful of handmade creations sold through Etsy soon grew into something much bigger. As more people discovered our work, the kitchen table became a dedicated workshop, but our approach never changed.

Today, every model is still designed, made, assembled and packed by our small team in Wales, with the same care and attention that inspired those very first orders.

2. WHY THIS OBJECTS

The beauty in the familiar

Our inspiration comes from the places and objects that tell stories. Sometimes that's a beach hut by the sea, a red telephone box on the corner or the garden shed at the bottom of the garden. Other times, it's the landmarks and buildings that have become part of our shared history.

Every model begins with something worth remembering.

We simply turn those places into thoughtful wooden models that can be built, displayed and enjoyed for years to come.

3. MEET RICHARD & THOMAS

A shared passion for making

Richard brings over forty years of creative experience and an eye for detail. Thomas combines product development, digital design and business strategy, helping turn ideas into products and ensuring Curious Rabbit® continues to grow.

Together, they design every model in-house, refining each idea until every proportion, joint and detail feels just right. It's a partnership built on craftsmanship, curiosity and a shared belief that even the smallest details matter.

4. OUR PROCESS

Thoughtful handcrafted design

1. Inspiration

We find inspiration in the places and objects we know, use and love.

2. Design

Every model begins as a sketch before being designed in-house.

3. Laser Cutting

We create every piece from sustainably sourced wood.

4. Hand Assembly

Every model and kit is assembled and finished by hand in our workshop.

5. Carefully Packed

Each order is packed with the same care that went into making it.

We don't rush our process. Because the best things take time.

5. INSIDE OUR WORKSHOP

Where ideas take shape

Everything happens here in our workshop based in Abergavenny, Wales; from the very first prototype to the finished model arriving at your door.

Every design is created, tested, refined, assembled and packed by our small team, ensuring each piece receives the care and attention it deserves.

It's where ideas become products, and products become gifts that tell a story.
