ACT I · THE STORY

Why this Festive Pie?

Christmas kitchens have a way of becoming very interesting and lively places.

There is pastry on the worktop, something warming in the oven, and usually a pie somewhere that everyone is being told not to touch yet. These two have clearly decided that waiting isn't really their style.

Up they pop through the crust, noses out first, looking remarkably pleased with themselves. Quite how they got into the pie is probably best left unexplained. Perhaps there was a small gap in the pastry, where one mouse had an idea and the other thought it sounded reasonable.

Either way, there they are, right in the middle of Christmas dinner, looking as though they have every intention of staying for pudding.

It's a wonderfully silly little scene, but one that feels instantly familiar, as though it belongs somewhere between an old Christmas illustration and a story told to children long ago.

This model brings that scene to life, with two festive mice emerging from a Christmas pie.

A festive holiday scene showing two small cartoon mice wearing Santa hats and scarves, peeking out from a large golden-brown pie on a rustic wooden table. The background features a cozy, vintage-style room with a window looking out onto a snowy coastal landscape, a blue kettle on a shelf, and a book titled 'Festive Recipes'.
