ACT I · THE STORY

Why this Hanging Sign?

Christmas Eve has always had a little more imagination in it.

Perhaps it comes from knowing that Santa is somewhere on his way, moving through the night while children are supposed to be asleep. For one evening, the ordinary rules are quietly suspended. Chimneys become entrances, rooftops become roads, and everyone knows a story is taking place just beyond the bedroom window.

The picture has been drawn in countless forms over the years, but the idea stays remarkably consistent. A sleeping village below. A dark winter sky above. Santa making his way from house to house, with Christmas morning waiting on the other side of the night.

It is the part of Christmas that belongs to anticipation. The presents haven't been opened, the stockings are still waiting, and morning is still several hours away.

This handmade wooden sign holds onto that moment, with Santa and his reindeer crossing above the village beneath the moon and stars, ready to return to the Christmas decorations each year.

“There is always one night when anything seems possible.”
