ACT I · THE STORY

Why this Outhouse Toiler?

Before indoor plumbing became commonplace, the outside privy was a familiar sight beside homes, farms and other buildings. Usually tucked away from the main house, it was a small building with a very particular purpose. Its architecture tended towards the practical: a door for privacy, a roof overhead and little need for ornament.

This model takes that humble building and gives it a new role. The door stands ajar, the roof carries a clip for notes and reminders, and the whole thing earns its place on the desk through a combination of usefulness and good humour. It's an unusual home for a memo, certainly, but then the best desk accessories tend to give people something to talk about.

A whimsical miniature wooden outhouse with a cream-colored door and green trim, set in a stylized garden scene under a warm peach sky with paper-like clouds.

“Some matters are best dealt with behind closed doors.”

ACT II · THE EXPERIENCE
